Why Carrollton works as your base
The drive from Westbridge to downtown Marshall is straight south on US-65 — no surface streets, no traffic, about 35 minutes. The drive to Van Meter State Park is about the same. If you're attending a Missouri Valley event in Marshall and Marshall's hotels are sold out (which happens routinely on event weekends), you've still got a real bed and a free hot breakfast forty minutes north.
For Van Meter visitors specifically: leave Westbridge after breakfast, you're on the boardwalk by mid-morning. Bring a packed lunch from the lobby (we'll let you pack a bag) and you've got a full unhurried day before driving back for dinner.
