Hotels Near Chillicothe, Missouri — When Chillicothe Is Booked, Carrollton Has You

Chillicothe, Missouri — the official "Home of Sliced Bread" — is a college and county-seat town of about 9,200 in Livingston County, an hour north of Carrollton on US-65. It's a regular destination for visiting families (North Central Missouri College), agricultural events, hunters heading to Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge, and travelers passing through to Iowa.

The town's hotel inventory is modest. When the local options fill up — and they routinely do during sliced-bread festival weekends, NCMC events, and waterfowl season — Westbridge Inn & Suites in Carrollton is the practical overflow option.

The 45-minute drive

It's a straight shot down US-65: Chillicothe → Utica → Linneus area → Carrollton. About 45 minutes door-to-door at the speed limit, all on a maintained four-lane / two-lane highway. No back-roads, no toll, no construction headaches.

For anyone attending an evening event in Chillicothe and needing a room afterward, that 45 minutes is shorter than the typical commute in Kansas City. Many of our Chillicothe-bound guests check in, drop bags, head north for dinner / the event, and roll back to Westbridge afterward.

Who comes to Chillicothe (and stays at Westbridge)

  • NCMC parent weekends, graduations, sports events — when the local block sells out
  • Slice of Life Festival (Chillicothe's annual sliced-bread celebration, in summer)
  • Hunters bound for Swan Lake NWR — Sumner is between Chillicothe and Carrollton, and our pet-friendly + truck-parking + early-breakfast combination works well for bird dogs and decoy trailers
  • Linneus / Brookfield business travelers who need a US-65 base
  • Iowa-bound highway travelers who'd rather break the drive halfway

Why Westbridge specifically

  • 34 rooms — usually has availability even when Chillicothe's are gone
  • Free hot breakfast served early — gets you back to Chillicothe before any morning event
  • Pet-friendly with transparent pet fee
  • Truck and bus parking for hunters with trailers
  • 24-hour front desk — late arrivals after a Chillicothe event are routine here

Honest comparison

You'll save a little money staying in Chillicothe proper if a room is available. Once it's not, every other option within a 20-mile radius requires more driving than the US-65 run south to Westbridge. Carrollton's not 'closer' to Chillicothe than the Chillicothe hotels, but it's the closest practical place that consistently has rooms when Chillicothe doesn't.
